Isa Katharina Gericke

"Perhaps because Mozart, holed up and frustrated in Salzburg, embarked on this Singspiel with no idea of who might sing in it or even stage it, the vocal writing sometimes suggests slightly different voices for different arias; if the Zaide can sing 'Ruhe sanft' to perfection, she may not have the necessary heft for 'Tiger'. In the event Isa Katharina Gericke (a last-minute replacement) filled the role with charm and distiction, her bright high soprano floating the famous lullaby to perfection."
David Linton, 'Opera', December 2005. About Mozarts 'Zaide' at the Risør Kammermusikkfest June 2005
